Can't get computer to recognise Kinect xbox 360 sensor RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I picked up a kinect 360 sensor and USB adapter for the purposes of 3d scanning.

I've installed (and reinstalled) the SDK 1.8 and Visual Studio. When I plug in the sensor it says device malfunctioned and computer doesn't recognise it. I've tried the USB 2 and 3.0 ports. I've checked that the sensor works with an xbox and tried someone elses sensor with the same outcomes. The only clue I can find online is that my USB ports may be incompatible with the sensor.

I've actually used the same set-up on a different computer at my last job.

Does anyone have any idea if this is resolvable?

If it's not, will I have the same compatibility issues with a v2 sensor? I don't want to buy one just to find out it doesn't work either.

    Many thanks.
