Virtual server 2005 and SBS 2008 RRS feed

    Good Afternoon,

I am trying to install SBS Server 2008 on a MS Virtual server machine... The host is 64 bit.

The VM machine is completely updated ...
I get an error when i try and run the .iso set-up disk stating  "attempting to load a 64-bit application, howeree the cpu is not compatible with 64 bit mode"  I read that Sp1 should resolve this problem but it doesn't ......

If anyone can please help ..... I would much appreciate it.

    Thanks

    phil

  • Hello,

Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V supports 64 bit child operating systems, whereas Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 does not.  This is likely the cause of the problem you are encountering.  I would suggest that you load Hyper-V on compatible hardware (64 bit, Hardware Assisted Virtualization Capable) and use that for your testing purposes.  Let me know if I can be of other assistance.
