need help on isolation level for transaction RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

i launch my application on two pcs (A,B) in the same time :

Process A : transaction with repeatable read isolation level.

Process B : Read data => the read of some data is blocked .

    and in this case :

Process A : transaction with read uncommited isolation level.

Process B : Read data => not blocked

what i can't understand is why with repeatable read isolation level, the process B is blocked to read some data form the database ?

    any help please

  • The locks hides data that is not safe for reading. The tighter lock you have, less data will be seen as acceptable for reading.

Look at this link http://msdn2.microsoft.com/En-US/library/aa259216(SQL.80).aspx to see some explanations of what different locks sees as acceptable data to show.
