Add Media Foundation Codec RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm currently developing a basic music player for Windows 8 and I would like it to have flac support.

Since there is a flac codec for Media Foundation (mfflac) I was wondering if it is somehow possible to integrate it into my app?

According to this site http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh452756.aspx Media Foundation seems to be mostly supported but I lack the knowledge to figure out what I have to do.

    Regards,

  • You cannot just drop the existing MFT into the app. You will need to update the code to make it compatible as a Media Extension for a Windows Store app. See Media extensions sample

  • Thanks, looks like it will take a lot of effort (since I don't now anything about this stuff) :/

Guess I will take a look at it if I have a lot of spare time.
