Layout Issue when exporting to PDF

I have a report that I'm making via SQL Reporting Services via VS 2005. The answers have a Yes or No field. I put this field in a text box and then put the question to the right. If the answer textbox for that questions returns a 'Y' from the database then it will show an 'X' in the text box. Well if the answer is YES then it's making my the textbox's height higher than if the answer is a 'N' for no. Any idea how I can control this? I am exporting the report to PDF to view and that's where I'm seeing the difference. The answer textboxes have an IF statement; If YES - shows an 'X'; If NO - shows blank.

Current Answer textbox Height/Width= Width - 0.1 in / Height - 0.1 in

Current Question textbox Height/Width = Width - 6.35in /Height - 0.25 in

I made it a lower case 'x' and it looks better, but still not the same if the answer is NO. The X is at the bottom of the textbox with some white space between the 'x' and the top border.

Here are some properties I have set:

BorderStyle = Solid

BorderWidth = 1pt

Padding = 0pt, 0pt, 0pt, 0pt

Value = iif(First(Fields![databasefield].value, "datasource")="Y", "x", "")

VerticalAlign = Middle

WrittingMode = lr-tb

TextAlign = Center

Direction = LTR

Also I changed the property 'CanGrow' to FALSE, but then it won't show the 'X' at all-> it's Blank.
