WHLK Client crashes Windows 10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a Host PC running a virtual machine (Hyper-V). This virtual machine is my HLK Test Server.

Host PC is Windows 10 Pro Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.116)

Virtual machine created using Windows Virtual HLK (VHLK) version 1903 downloaded this file 2016DC-18362-1-19h1_release-190318-1202-VS2017Ent-HLK.vhdx

Virtual machine is running Windows Server 2016 Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.2125) this came by default with the vhdx file.

Virtual machine installed perfectly, I followed the instructions on this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/getstarted/getstarted-vhlk

The Test System (Client) is Windows 10 Home Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.116). I followed the instructions to install the Windows HLK Client from here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/test/hlk/getstarted/step-2--install-client-on-the-test-system-s-

The Test System is an absolutely clean machine with only the windows OS and nothing else.

Windows HLK Client installs successfully on the Test System, however after installation and on restarting the Test System, the Test System cannot load Windows and tries to repair itself. Repair fails and I have to load Windows from a System Image.

I strongly believe that the Windows HLK Client is causing some corruption and hence Windows does not launch after a restart.

Please help - I have tried to install Windows HLK Client several times and the same thing keeps happening and have found no solution for this problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Russell
