How to find the "My Places editor" in Bing Maps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Whatever I do and try, I cannot toggle a 'My Places editor' with an 'import' button (to import GPX and KML files). I tried it in Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer, and what I get when clicking on 'my places' in the menu, never contains an 'import' button nor a 'draw' button.

This is what I get to see when I click the 3 dots: no "edit", just "print".

When I click on the 3 dots next to "work", I get this:

And when I click on "Edit", I get an edit box in which I can only change text:

Result: I cannot import GPX-files in Bing Maps nor draw a route on a Bing map and then export it.

I would be very grateful to anyone able to help me (and I'm sure a lot of walkers and cyclists will be too).

  • First off, you likely will want to click on the "Collections" tab. That's where your custom data sets will be. From there, you can only add pushpins to collections at this time by right clicking on the map then Save -> then the collection you want to add the location to.

Currently there is no option to import data sets such as KML, and GPX. There is a UserVoice request for this feature: https://binglistens.uservoice.com/forums/283355-ideas/suggestions/12390348-no-import-option

Note that these forums are for the Bing Maps developer API's which are not related to the Bing Maps website. The Bing Maps website is just another website that has implemented the Bing Maps API's and add their own functionality on top.
