How to debug Data Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can I debug Data Services?
Using VS2010RC and the dev web server.

    My Web.Config has the setting:
    <compilation debug="true"

Using "View in Browser" my Breakpoints are not hit.
"Step into" from the client does not work

    I followed:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/phaniraj/archive/2008/06/18/debugging-ado-net-data-services.aspx
This only results in a more detailed error message, not containing the actual error info.
The message says "... see server logs for details".
    Where are those logs?
The error dows not show in the machines Application EventLog.

  • Try right clicking on the Data Services project in the solution explorer and choosing Debug ---> Start New Instance. Your breakpoints should be hit when the service is invoked.

  • This works:
Run VS as Admin (otherwise Unauthorized Access Exception)
Set service page (.svc) as startup page.
    Debug, Start new Instance

I had tried this before, but hat not expected the start taking so long (30+ secs).
