SSRS http to https? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running SSRS 2016.

Currently using http://reports.contoso.local, moving to https TLS encryption.

Strategy short term is to set a web.config redirect http to https and give developers a chance to adjust code, but not sure how this works without iis. To clarify, if this was IIS, I'd set up a cert, create a 443 binding, and set the rewrite/redirect from the 80 binding to the 443 binding in the iis web.config.

What's the Microsoft SSRS SOP for this?

    Thanks

  • I wasn't able to get it working without IIS on server, but did a quick POC using Netscaler redirect, which looked good.

  • Hi,

What did you mean by this term "SSRS SOP" here?

For you case, there were similar request before, you could read this thread : SSL Redirect for SSRS

Please also notice the requirement of installing IIS and SSRS2016 side by side.

    Regards,

    Lukas

  • Thanks Lukas.

Installed Certificates snap-in, no IIS, having cert created, will likely use Netscaler for redirect. I'll report back.

  • Half way, I have http and https URLs in parallel in Web Service URL/Web Portal URL.

Want to try redirecting http requests to https via rsreportserver.config. Doable?

  • I am not sure the redirection is to be made in the config file. If you have worked this out, we would happily hear your feedback.
