Using PowerShell with VS15?

  • Hello,

I've heard lots of great things recently about VS15 so I figured I would give it a shot.

Before I start learning the new things that VS brings, I want to make sure I can at least still perform tasks like I can in the PowerShell ISE.

I've downloaded the PowerShell tool for VS and installed it, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do the ISE equivalent of pressing F5 (load the script) and Use-MyFunction in some sort of console window. I've googled around for a little while and everything points me to the tool for VS (above) or downloading a NuGet console, none of which have worked.

Any ideas where I've gone wrong?

  • Hi Betty_Anne,

Have you installed the PowerShell Tools for Visual Studio 2015?

As far as I know, if your want to develop wiht PowerShell, you need to install the PowerShell Tools for Visual Studio.

This is a good example of using PowerShell in VS2015 for your reference:
