lightswitch application to SharePoint online RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to create a lightswitch application to SharePoint online(office 365)

When I select “attached to external data source” and the data source is to ”SharePoint “ I m getting following error.  .

https://XXXX.sharepoint.com does not appear to be a valid site. SharePoint 2010 (or later) with an installation of WCF Data Services is required.

I have downloaded Visual studio update 2 to compatible with Lightswitch.

    Can anyone please help me.

  • Is this sharepoint site associated with a developer office 365 account?  You can't develop against a standard O365 account - it has to be a developer account.

If you are trying to enable Sharepoint for a developer O365 account, it may be an authorization issue.  Check to make sure you are signing in with the right credentials.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Brian,

    Thank you for your message.

I do have admin rights and I can develop any other web parts(eg-Silverlight web parts) using VS2012 without any issue.

Could you please advice me regarding this issue.

  • Before you start SharePoint development in LightSwitch you need to install Microsoft LightSwitch for Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 (link). To familiarize with the development experience I suggest going through the walkthrough at: http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/Survey-App-Tutorial-a70d0afd

    Hope that helps!

  • Attaching to an O365 SharePoint site is not currently supported (with specified credentials).

    (Explained further here - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/lightswitch/archive/2013/03/28/using-sharepoint-lists-as-lightswitch-entities-and-with-csom-chris-rummel.aspx)
