Remove attachments - free up disk space RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to remove attachments from Mail items using EWS Managed API 2.0 in order to decrease mailbox size and reduce the required physical storage space.

I call the Item.Attachments.Remove() method for each attachment - checking the mailbox the attachments are gone, but unfortunately no disk space is freed up, so it seems to remain allocated.

What exactly is necessary in order to release disk space? Some kind of reorganization on Exchange Server? Or can I call something using EWS?

    Best Regards

    Andreas

  • Hi,

Though they are removed from the mailbox, edb size wont reduce.

To get the space on drive check the white space. if there are lot of white space you can create a new mailbox database and move the mailboxes to new database.
