  • You first need to determine which supported edition of SQL 2008 you want to install on your Win 7. Then downlaod the media accordingly from MSDN subscription. If you dont have the subscription you can go for the free edition i.e. SQL 2008 Express. Prior to install this free edition you might want to uninstall the expired edition.

  • You are trying to install a version of SQL Server 2008 that is not compatible with x86 .i.e.  You're probably trying to install the x64 or IA64 version.  Run the installation in the x86 directory of your media

You used Enterprise Evaluation Edition not Enterprise Edition.

  • Dear Prashant

Despite that EE is not supported on W7, I have seen many people who do install EE on W7, means "does not support but allow install"

I would rather say "won't block the install still if you install, it wont be supported" :)
