Win8 Server Installation failures

    Question

  • Hello,

the Win8 Server ISO has problems with different types of servers. We tried several machines and got problems with some older HP DL360G4P and newer IBM X3650M2. The x36050m2 has UEFI Bios and latest supportet FW from IBM.

Errormessage by HPDL360G4P: Multiprocessor System is not supportet.

Error on the x3650M2: By booting the DVD the systems hangs for a while with black screen the then powers of by himself.

The sources are from the original microsoft download site.

  • How did you convert ISO to MSI? Did you use any tools or you used Windows 7 default feature?

Did Windows 8 installed successfully in those PCs?

If possible please provide some screenshot of error.

What from the original post would lead you to believe that the ISO was
converted to an MSI? Why would anyone even attempt to convert an ISO to an
MSI? That doesn't make any sense.

He's trying to install Windows 8, the server version. I'm not sure what the
relevance of trying to install the Windows 8 client would have here.

Check the CPUs in the system to make sure that they both have the same
    Stepping level.

  • I seen several installation errors that users are using some tools to convert ISO file to installation file and there is some error in their conversion that lead to installation error thats why I ask about it.

I ask about other installation, since user said it been installed in other servers and I wanted to know does this issue happens in all machines or only some of them.

The tools you're referring to do not convert the ISO to MSI. They extract
the contents of the ISO file to a disk. There's a big difference between
the two. In any case, at least for one of the computers in question, he
indicated in the original post that he is hitting a problem after booting
from DVD, so that's not the issue.
