Lots of those in previous threads.

Apparently the latest version of VMWare, downloadable today works.
There are some instructions in threads prevoius to this one.

Possibly what may work in Virtual PC is choosing Other and Other for the
guest OS rather than Windows 7.  However I haven't tried that myself.

    Or use VirtualBox.

  • Virtual PC and VMWare products (except apparently Workstation 8) will not work with Windows 8. However you can use Hyper-V on Server 2008 R2 or the free version is using VirtualBox. I have a full How-to written here. http://geekswithblogs.net/RollingIT/archive/2011/09/14/getting-hands-on-with-virtual-machine-of-windows-8.aspx

  • Hello,

Steven Sinofsky has a new entry in the Building Windows 8 blog that has some good information:

Running Windows 8 Developer Preview in a virtual environment

    Thanks

  • I could make it work in Virtual PC, so I download Virtual Box and it worked like a charm.  It is just to bad that it doesn't work in MS' own virtualization software and that you have to go and use an alternate one.

    C'est la vie!

I was a bit startled to find it didn't work in Virtual PC.  To me that
should've been a very high priority.
