[UWP] [Desktop Bridge]Cannot publish converted appx to Windows Store

    Question

  • I used the formally launched DesktopAppConverter on Windows Store and converted a Win32 application to an appx. The converting process was quite smooth. But when I tried to publish it to the Windows Store, 2 error messages prompted:

    1. Package acceptance validation error: You don't have permissions to specify the following namespaces in the appx manifest file of the package WOTest.appx:http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/foundation/windows10/restrictedcapabilities
    2. Package acceptance validation error: Your developer account doesn’t have permission to submit apps converted with the Desktop App Converter at this time.

The appx manifest file was generated automatically by the Converter which makes this error message quite confusing and frustrating.
The news at 9/15/2016 said that the Windows Store is open to Project Centennial converted apps and I used the latest formally launched version of the DesktopAppConverter. Don't know why still these errors.

    Thank you.

  • You need to submit your app through the Desktop Bridge sign-up form for Windows Store: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/projects/campaigns/desktop-bridge

This is linked from the 14 September announcement that Apps built using the Desktop Bridge now available in the Windows Store!

  • Each app must be approved for acceptance before it can be submitted to the store. You must first request the needed approval via the link you referenced: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/projects/campaigns/desktop-bridge

  • Hi, Stak1945

I got the same both errors. The difference between yours and my approach is: Instead of  using  the DesktopAppConverter I converted my DeskTop app manually according to

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/windows/uwp/porting/desktop-to-uwp-manual-conversion

    and

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ms733813.aspx

    with the steps

    Creating a manifest

    MakeAppx.exe …

MakeCert.exe … (twice: a root certificate and a certificate derived  from the root certificate)

    Pvk2Pfx.exe …

    SignTool.exe …

I think it is very interesting that we get the same errors although using different ways to create the apps and it is hopeful that somebody can help us.

    Thanks

  • Will there be a pre-launch inside test state if I submit my app through this process?

Can I upload my app to the store and test a few features such as generating zip files for preinstall without formally open it to the public?

    Thank you.

  • That process won't automatically publish the app. It will connect you with a team who can help you get your app ready for and authorized for the store. You'll still go through the normal publishing steps once authorized.

  • Hello, Rob!

I have the same error and fill the form by link https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/projects/campaigns/desktop-bridge

But I don't receive any submission or answer for thee or four days.

Is there any official way to unlock publishing of converted apps for developer account now ?

Package acceptance validation error: Your developer account doesn’t have permission to submit apps converted with the Desktop App Converter at this time.

Also I have two another errors

Package acceptance validation error: The PublisherDisplayName element in the app manifest of Poet.appx is CN=Makeloft, which doesn't match your publisher display name: Makeloft.
Package acceptance validation error: You don't have permissions to specify the following namespaces in the appx manifest file of the package Poet.appx: http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/foundation/windows10/restrictedcapabilities
