Isolated Shell: How to remove View->Toolbars->Help RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

how can I remove the menu View->Toolbars->Help in a VS2008 Isolated shell.

I have edited the .vsct file so there are only two commands remaining in the toolbar ("save search", "add to help favorites").

    Best regards, Torsten

  • Hi Torsten,

    Thanks for your patience.

I've consulted around and as far as I know, it seems not possible to remove it.

It’s not obvious that the "Help" toolbar is actually the Web Browser toolbar, defined as IDM_WBTLB_WEB in vscommon\appid\inc\WBCmdPlace.vsct.

In a word, I don’t think there is a way to remove it – I don’t see any conditional in the toolbar definitions that we can comment out via no_xxxx in the vsct file.

But in VS2010, the "help" toolbar is not there any longer.

    Thanks and good luck.

  • It is possible,  I'm not sure how to remove this particular menu since I removed almost all the menus off for my shell. I had to tweak the shell.pkgundef file to remove some of them, so maybe you want to look in that direction.

  • Hi,

I already have removed every package not necessary for starting the shell. But the commands remain.

    Any idea would be appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Torsten
