none Report viewer control error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an application that has several reports that are running on a sql server 2008 reporting server and use the report viewer control to access them. The web app is running in IIS7 and displays fine from within our network if the app is published to the default website in IIS. We created a new site for the app so it could have its own app pool and used a host header and dns cname to make it easier to access the app internally by shortening the address to just 1 word. When we do this the report viewer renders the reports fine, but when we try to publish this app to the web the report renders with the buttons missing and never generates the report. We have added the http handeler for the viewer control and it still will not work. We can access it from the web if we move it back to the default page though...... Is there something with the app pool of the default site that makes it work there but not in a new site?

  • It definitely sounds like the HTTP handler is not available or is returning an error.  If you look in the HTML that is generated, you should see various links that reference the HTTP handler AXD, such as the images for the buttons.  If you copy-paste one of those URLs directly into the browser, what error message do you see?
