  • Hi All,

    Is there any way to get the source of email from where the it has been sent i.e from mobile or from web?

    I have a problem, i need to  receive an email and check whether it comes from mobile or not.i have written a transport receive agent for this.Can anyone help ?

  • you can get to know from which IP it is coming but from mobile or web.. i guess this is not possible... but would love to wait for replies from other members if there is a way.

  • Hi Salihabutt,

    if you want to see it from the SMTP document that is not possible. SMTP specification does not implement a "mandatory" user Agent or Agent type field. see RFC 5321 for reference http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5321#page-12 , in RFC 822 you also can find Details about mandatory Header fields.

    If you had a special internal Sender, you may  add a Transport rule for your Sender System, so you can add custom headers to filter if you cannot determine the Sender System by its IP. Of course, that is not possible if you Need to handle Internet mail source.
