IO types RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have seen that in some cases a WDF PDO object in KMDF bus drivers uses IO Type Direct. Is this implementation specific? Or can I use IO Type Buffered for a PDO for performance?

  • It is your bus driver you can use whatever IO Type is best for you.

  • the only time the io type matters on the PDO is when it is a raw pdo, and even then, that only has an effect on reads and writes. IOCTLS encode their own buffering. And the fdo on top of your PDO is free to define its own io type on its device object
