S5pv210(cortex A8) architecture is ARMv7 ,why it is also ARMv4 ? RRS feed

  • HI , I learn about s5pv210 is ARMv7 architecture , but why  we use the BSP(s5pv210) export the SDK is also like ARMv4i , but not ARMv7 ,

    I try to study ARMv4 , ARMv7 from website , but they don't tell me why the can compatible like above . 

    Can anybody tell me more , thanks!

  • Because Visual Studio for application development has not caught up with the OS development.  The compiler has not been updated for ARMv7.

    So you mean it is no difference when using Armv4i or Armv7 in VS2005 , they both can be compatible ARM9/ARM11/cortex A8  CPU system ?

  • No I didn't mean that.   ARMv4 is a subset of ARMv7, yes compatible - but not equal.
