SQL Server 2016 on Windows Server 2016

Question

Installing SQL Server 2016 on Windows Server 2016 as a domain controller does not work.
(Why do I install SQL Server on a domain controller? Because this server belongs to a very small LAN, without multiple user access.)
I was able to install SQL Server 2012 and 2014 on this domain controller, but not version 2016.
I suppose, that the database engine needs to be set to a domain user rather than to a local user account. But what kind of account should I use or create?

A regular user account. SQL Server setup will assign all permissions needed.

However, installing SQL Server on a domain conrtoller is definitely not recommended.

Hi PPatrick,

Installing on domain controller is not recommended options -because you may face the security issues along with your performance may hinder & even can affect to domain controllrer though you use for small LAN.

Hello,

Although is not recommend you may still be able to install SQL Server 2016 on DC, if you select a domain windows account as service account on the Server Configuration page of SQL Server setup program.
