WPF render issue on Tablet PC with screen rotate RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

Our WPF application which consists of a very simple user interface needs to support tablet PCs. We're facing an issue with context menus and drop downs appearing in the top left corner of the screen when we switch the tablet from landscape to portrait mode or vice-versa. We've only used standard WPF controls so far and we are unable to trace the problem.

Is this a known issue with WPF and tablet PCs? Is there perhaps a fix for this?

    With respect,

  • It seems that the actual screen rotate causes the issue. If the application is already in portrait mode, it works fine, but if it's switched from landscape to portrait while running, the context menus, drop downs and every kind of pop-up end up in the top left corner.

Still no fix found for this.

  • The closest solution I have seen for this is to track the screen coordinates, monitor for a change, then re-layout your controls when they reset.  Unfortunately, WPF doesn't give you this functionality for free.
