Hi Dave, I'm sitting here with one of our program managers, who came over from iView. He says that he has not seen or heard of this issue, and I honestly cannot find anything in the bug databases. I only have a Mac notebook back in my office, but I've asked the others on the team to test on their other Mac's. Looking back at your previous posts, I noticed just now that you mentioned not seeing any updates. Actually, we are on service pack 1, so if you haven't loaded that yet, why don't you try doing that? Here is a link to the download - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=535F6189-C4A9-4D9C- A7FE-3BF8DD0EEF53&displaylang=en. The development team is also hard at work on the next full version. Hi Lara, We really apologize for the inconvenience. The missing path issue has already been documented and submitted to the product team, and they currently working on a fix. Unfortunately, we are not able to give a timeline on when a fix would be available because this depends on complexity of the issue and other factors; it will be fixed in a future update or version. How's the fix going? I just tried to upgrade from iView to EM and all paths to more than 1500 DVD's are gone. I have Expression Media 1.0.2, I'm on a Intel mac, OS 10.4.11, quicktime 7.4.1. Any solutions, anyone?? Please let me know. Thanks! 10/29/2007: "We really apologize for the inconvenience. Hello Dave, The only thing I can suggest at this point is to open a support incident with Microsoft. Without being able to see the problem, I don't know how we can take it further in the forum. However, with a case our support folks can connect to your machine to troubleshoot. Yes there are some great possibilities here. Are the xm people the ones to
do it?
There's no change in this odd behavior under Leopard btw.

Cover Flow is brilliant with image and image folders. I am sure that some enterprising individual or concern will dovetail cover flow into an image databasing application. Awesome really. daver wrote: > Hi Anita, I did install SP1 and it stopped the crashing problem on a search. > I'm asking xm to search a specific folder of iView catalogues, not recent > catalogues or open catalogues if that's any help. Hi Anita, I did install SP1 and it stopped the crashing problem on a search. I'm asking xm to search a specific folder of iView catalogues, not recent catalogues or open catalogues if that's any help. All these catalogues were created in iView MP 3 and earlier, and were resaved in iViewMP 3 a few months ago for consistency. In iView MP the cursor would flicker command-periods but now the whole UI is strobing like a marquee. I'm actually about to install Leopard I have that on the docket today, maybe that will change things (or open a new can of worms.) Hi Anita, I've got to stop with this shoot first ask questions later approach. Despite appearances I'd love it if this software worked well. I like the iView workflow I don't really want to switch. And I like the fact that it's lightweight, it doesn't try to be processor and everything else too (it's a great companion to Capture One which it doesn't need to or try to replace.) Ok, I did load this onto my 17" Macbook Pro. And a bunch of things still strobe with the cursor (icons, type, scrolling bars.) The fact you referred to "flicker" when I said "strobe" tells me you've probably encountered reference to this before despite your note to the contrary ;) So yes it happens on the dual G5 tower and on the latest mac (both 10.4.10.) It might not be in your known issues because maybe no one thinks it's worth commenting on if it's otherwise working fine. For me it was just another thing that was a problem. Dave

Thanks for looking into this. I don't plan on loading this program on my other computers until it works on my desktop G5, and as the program is problematic without bringing anything new to the table I'm just sticking with iViewMP with a possible future migration to Lightroom. Thanks anyway. Dave "Anita Oakley" wrote: > Hello Dave, > > I tried to reproduce the flicker, but could not. Hello Dave, I tried to reproduce the flicker, but could not. (Mac or Windows) I created a complex search, and searched across all recent catalogs with no redraw problems. I also checked through our known issues but could not find anything. Do you have other machines you could try this on? Sorry for the sarcasm, I did manage to get the "find" to work, but it's very slow and all the icons and fonts in any open catalogues seem to strobe with the cursor while the program's searching. It does seem to be a downgrade from iViewMP in behavior and performance, which I'm at a loss to understand. Um, I just installed this and now the Find menu is completely greyed out and unavailable. I guess this is microsoft's idea of a workaround. I have to echo Lara's comments re this software's utility. It's supposed to be for cataloging, which includes retrieval not just filing. Excuse me while I re-launch my purging app! Hi Lara, We really apologize for the inconvenience. The missing path issue has already been documented and submitted to the product team, and they currently working on a fix. Unfortunately, we are not able to give a timeline on when a fix would be available because this depends on complexity of the issue and other factors; it will be fixed in a future update or version. i have already done this. my paths still don't work. and i can't find my previous post where a tech guy said that yes, it was a problem. i was hoping that this would be fixed by now. what use is a catalogue if you don't know which disk the image is stored on?! i gotta agree with the other guy, iView was a good working program and microsoft broke it! i am just going to delete the expressions media and continue to use iView until i find something better. lara "Finder" wrote: > Please download SP1 from microsoft.com and install it over v1.0 on your PPC > Mac. Please download SP1 from microsoft.com and install it over v1.0 on your PPC Mac. Does it work better? Make sure QT is up to date. I couldn't even get the search to work on a local drive, the program crashes and gives the option of sending an automatic bug report, which I did, but to no effect. Microsoft took a perfectly good program (iViewMP) and broke it. Are they serious about this? I haven't seen any updates or patches we're still v1.0. I'm on PPC. Dave

i was wondering if the problem of paths has been fixed yet. i wrote about this a while back and someone said, yes, there was a problem, they could reproduce it. problem: do a search over several years worth of catalogue - file name "tree" images appear in a new catalogue. but when i click on the image, the path does not show which of 10 years worth of cds or dvds the image is stored on. this worked find in iView. IM is useless to me if i can't locate images stored on discs and catalogued. new macbook, intel - lara
