  • I tried to download the Small Basic Data Extension from here:

    http://download.o-programs.com/projects/data/Data_Extension_1.0.300.exe

but it responds with "Program not found".  Has it moved?

  • There is a sticky thread with links to extensions.

  • When I try to download the extensions, I get the message: "This webpage is not availabli."

Repeatedly.  After doing the "can you see this?" nonsense.

Why is this such a complicated undertaking?  Why would my firewall block the download?  I'm using Norton 360 and as far as I know haven't encountered this before.

  • All the download locations work for me including the one a couple of clicks from the 404 page you posted.

    http://download.o-programs.com/projects/data/Data%20Extension_1.0.300.exe

Norton perhaps doesn't like downloading exe files; IMO Norton is not good, perhaps turn it off to download or get something better.

I do agree that the Data download is a bit complicated when all you need is a simple zip with a dll and xml in it, but that is the author's choice.

  • I disabled all of Norton's firewall stuff.  I tried using Internet Explorer, and get

    "

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

    I'm using Win XP SP3 x86, IE 8.0.6001.18702

And I'm not a "beginner"!  Albeit, ignorant of the intricies of finding ot what is going on in situations like this.

  • Sorry, can't really suggest much since it works for me - I recall you use an older version of IE, don't see why this should cause a problem unless some security settings prevent exe downloads (these are potentially dangerous so I get a warning but it still lets me do it).

Can you download other exe files?

Here is a simple SmallBasic (Hello World) exe I just uploaded as a test to see if you can download it.

  • I download a lot of .exe files with no problems, using Google CHrome, Firefox 3.0.6 and IE8.

I downloaded your "Hello world" .exe and it runs jus tfine (after I copied SmallBasicLibrary.dll into the Downloads diredtory).

I seems to only be the http://dataextension.hostoi.com/ site that is causing me grief, regardless of the browser or whather or not Norton 360 has its firewall active.  Also, if it was a firewall problem, Norton would give me an alert, which it didn't/dosen't.

Again, I'm running Windows XP SP3 X86 with all updates.

  • OK that's clearer, I can only suggest you post on the sticky thread regarding the Data extension and ask Oskariok (author) to provide some method to get the download to you.  If he is happy someone (or me) would be happy to upload his exe to another site that you can download from.  You could also possibly also request this on his website - he posts a contact email address there.
