Hi, I've downloaded the new SSAS OLE DB provider from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29065 and installed it on a vm with Excel 2007. I can connect to the AdventureWorks SSAS tabular correctly.
Thanks

Hello,
Yes, it's possible. The Excel PivotTable generates MDX statements and sends them to SSAS; Tabular Mode cubes accepts MDX queries as well an DAX queries; see MSDN Tabular Model Data Access

Hi Olaf, thanks for your reply, but I cannot read an explicit reference to Excel 2007.
Moreover, if you have any experiences about Excel 2007 and SSAS Tabular, I'd like to know if you have encountered any issues.
Thanks

Hi pscorca,
BI semantic model connections from Excel require that you have Excel 2010 and the MSOLAP.5 OLE DB provider installed on your workstation. For more information, please refer to the article below:

Hi Bin, thanks for your intersting reply but probably ... it is possible to use Excel 2007 also if it isn't supported by Microsoft. In my company all us have Excel 2010 and not more Excel 2007 and I cannot perform a test. It could be interesting to hear the experience of somebody about this subject.
Thanks

In order to perform a proof with Excel 2007, where can I find the MSOLAP.5 OLE DB provider? Does it exist a stand-alone download?
Thanks
Ok, I've found this article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210608.aspx- Edited by pscorca Friday, July 27, 2012 12:02 PM update
