Support for Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (vstor_redist.exe) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Could someone confirm if support for Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (vstor_redist.exe) continues?
I found information that support for Visual Studio 2010 will be discontinued, and I wonder what's the case regarding VSTO.
We have some excel add-ins that use this component, and lack of support may cause many issues for our customers.
    Thanks!

  • For Visual Studio 2010 you are absolutely correct, for the Office Runtime - not.

Developing and running Office customizations built with Visual Studio Tools for Office 4.0 requires at least one of the following versions of Microsoft Office:

    Microsoft Office 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office Word 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office Visio 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016
    Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007, 2010, or 2013
    Microsoft Office Project 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016

This runtime accompanies the release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and has been updated to support Visual Studio 2012 (including .NET 4.5 support) and Office 2013.

See Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime for more information.
