svcutil tool - serviceContract unrecognised option RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running VS2010 - Have install NET 4.5 as well. I am trying to generate a server interface from a WSDL file using

    svcutil /serviceContract ***.wsdl

however serviceContract is not a valid option. When I generate the help for svcutil.exe /? serviceContract is not listed. From what I have read I thought I would be able to use this with .NET 4.5 however with my installation it is not available.

    Tried the svcutil.exe in

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin  - and also in

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools

The latter I think is the VS Command prompt svcutil.exe (so no it does not work in VS2010 command prompt)

Both generate the same error/lack of functionality. Could anyone advise as to how to solve this issue?

  • Hi,

This svcutil /serviceContract option is available in the .NET 4.5 and it is not supported in the .NET 4.0 .

For more information, please try to refer to:
