Event logging even when not supposed to RRS feed

    Hey all,

I'm trying to use the Exception Block together with the Logging Block, to get error logging in a .log text file.

Although I remove the Event Log Sink, the ExceptionPolicy.HandleException method stills writes the error in the Event Log.

How can I fix this ? And also, the problem I'm facing is that I don't have registry access permission in the machine I'm deploying, so I get an error saying it can't write to the registry, which overloads my original error.

Any ways to fix these errors ?

I've figured out what it was. It wasn't the Handle Exception method that was causing the Event log writing, but the enterprise library itself, cause it hasn't been properly installed in the deploy machine. Apparently there's a need to run the InstallServices.bat file in the src directory of enterprise library, that sets up the enterprise library to work correctly.

There's some more instructions in http://codebetter.com/blogs/eric.wise/archive/2005/03/21/60163.aspx

Two questions which are of concern.

    1) Should I definitely install Enterprise Library on my server? I'm using the enterprise library dll's stored in a folder under my webproject. Isn't that enough to run it on the server?

    2) My fellow developers (who haven't installed EntLib 1.1) are facing a lot of problems. Frequently, their application event log gets full. Should they definitely install EntLib to make it work correctly?
