Errors when trying to create existing SharePoint List (Access 2016, Sharepoint 2016) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I'm a a bit of a newbie to SharePoint but can't figure out these errors I'm having when trying to create an existing SharePoint List and wonder if anyone can help. I use Create>SharePoint Lists>Link to the data source by creating a linked table. Once it is created I get the following error messages:

    1. At least one of my other tables (not linked) reduces in record size dramatically (only in Access locally on not in my SharePoint list)

    2. On some occasions I get a message indicating there are no records in the table when I try to access it (datasheet and design view) and it won't let me open it

    3. On others I have a Microsoft Jet engine error

I can't figure out a pattern for the errors as I have created very simple 1 field tables and get issue (1) all the time and the other 2 at different times.

    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks

    Lewis

  • Hi Lewis John,

I can see that you are getting 3 errors.

Possible that there are 3 different issues there.

    (1) You had mentioned that,"At least one of my other tables (not linked) reduces in record size dramatically (only in Access locally on not in my SharePoint list)"

Did you check the records of the table? Did you find the records are missing or any other uncommon thing?

    (2) You had mentioned that,"On some occasions I get a message indicating there are no records in the table when I try to access it (datasheet and design view) and it won't let me open it"

Are these link tables? Are you sure that these tables have records in it?

I can see that you are not able to open datasheet view or design view. Do you able to fire a query on this table and check whether query returns any records or not?

    (3) You had mentioned that,"On others I have a Microsoft Jet engine error"

Can you inform us, On which action you got this error?

It will be helpful for us to understand the issue in better way.

If all the issues are happens with the non link table then you can try to share us the sample copy of database.

We will try to check it and try to find the issue in it.

You can also try to Compact and repair a database

So if there is any corruption then it can be solved by Compact and Repair.

    Regards

    Deepak
