Trouble with IL offsets from crash reports RRS feed

  • Question

  • There's an intermittent crash in my WP app that I'd like to track down. I know it's a NullReferenceException from a certain function, but that's not very helpful since it's a modestly-sized function and there's no obvious variable that might be null. It gives the Offset in the function (I assume this is an IL offset) so I'm trying to track down the exact spot it's messing up in Reflector but the IL offsets listed in Reflector seem to be different from the ones in the crash reports.

There was another crash I know the location of and they didn't agree. In some cases the offsets were way too high and would have been far off the end of the function. Have other people had success with getting sane and helpful values here?

  • I've seen similar issues in my crash report, where the reported offsets are way too high for IL offsets, and too small for native offsets :-) Would love to see how we're supposed to use these!
