According to this link https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1009688?hl=en-GB, it is not possible to use GA with sharepoint 2010 intanet site as it requires a fully qualified domain name..

Last line from above URL:- "The ga.js JavaScript will not work if your intranet can only be accessed using a domain name that is not fully qualified, such as http://intranet."

    Please advice. Thanks.

  • yes, that's the limitation, because if its not FQDN then Google Analytics will complain that the URL ends with an invalid top-level domain name.

  • Google Analytics assumes the site you are analyzing is an internet web site. As all internet web sites have an FQDN this requirement makes sense for this purpose.

If you want to use it for a site that doesn't have an FQDN, you're out of luck. You can of course, create SharePoint sites that have an FQDN. Whether it resolves or not externally shouldn't matter.

  • CardioLog Analytics is a reporting and web analytics tool designed for SharePoint. With dozens of out of the box usage reports CardioLog helps identify how the portal is being used with the goal of constantly improving the portal for users.  Some of the metrics included in CardioLog Analytics are: page views, users, search, user groups, and more.

  • Yes you can use Google Analytics for an Intranet site.  However there are some privacy issues to consider:
