how to change the startup screen from tasks to myScreen RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have created a simple project which connects to a remote sql database.  I have generated a single screen that is linked to 1 table in the database.  When i run the project from the IDE i get a blank screen with absolutely nothing on it - no buttons, nothing.  I am guessing the startup screen is wrong - so I look at the screen navigation screen and note down the bottom that it says 'Current startup screen: Tasks'.

I can't seem to add myScreen that i have created.

There are no errors when it builds or runs.

    Am i missing something?

  • Hi Anton,

I'm guessing that the screen that you created is a Details screen? Details screens can only be invoked from another screen and don't show up in the navigation menu. "Tasks" is the upper level menu item and doesn't represent a screen, so in effect you have specified "don't show a startup screen", which in some cases might be desirable. You will need to create a different type of screen to use as a startup screen, and then call your Details screen from that screen.  See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff851994(v=vs.110)

    Hope this helps,
