Getting .Net 4.5 files from MSDN downloads (or anywhere else ... legally, of course :-) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Okay, so I know this isn't the place for issues with personal accounts with MSDN subscriptions,  but all I am wanting to do is get ahold of .Net framework 4.5, and it says I can't download because my subscription has expired. Is this not a public freely available download?

  • I guess I should also fill-in that I have downloaded the 500Kb "downloader", but my inquiry was more along the lines of, can I download the entire installer in order to install it on a device with limited/no internet? My target machine IS a laptop, so I can take it to a Wi-Fi and use the small "downloader" if nothing else, but I was trying to get it down by getting the file downloaded (completely) on my dekstop machine, which has a high-speed wired connection, then save it on my USB stick and transfer it over that way.  Possible?

  • Hi rolaaus,

Yes, it is possible for you to donwload the installer on the desktop machine then install it on a laptop. You can download the .NET 4.5 here:

In addition, I am sorry that I am not the subscription expert and I can't help you further about your subscriber account issue. Maybe you can visit the Subscriptions Customer Service Center and contact the experts in your region. Go:
