UI issue with Excel 2019 (not present in Excel 2010) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a complex workbook with many standard formulas where I have used the "freeze pane" feature on a cell for ease of reading when navigating. I experience a consistent and unrecoverable UI freeze in Excel 2019 when I zoom out (ctrl + mousewheel down) far enough. Notably:

    1) Zooming out on this workbook was working perfectly in Excel 2010 and 2016.

    2) If I open the workbook, first disable pane freezing and re-enable it BEFORE doing any zooming, the workbook zoom function then works properly. Zooming also works for the same workbook without the frozen cell. Saving a working workbook with a refrozen pane and reloading it results in the same error again.

I can reproduce this bug on any install of Office 365, but it is not present in Excel 2010 or 2016. The other aspects of Excel seem to be working. Turning off hardware acceleration does not help. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to remedy this issue as the workbook is often used.
