    Hi there,

I am using VS 2017 Community to create a project template based on what I have for the project, and then create a new project using this project template. I found that a few folders and files under the project template are missing in the new project, only one folder is imported, but files are all missing. But looking into the template zip file, everything is there, but it seemed not imported properly.

What is the problem and the solution? VS version: 15.2(26430.14) Release

    Please help.

    Thanks. Boby

    Hi byuan,

I try to make a test with VS 2017.

I try to create one Windows Forms Application then I try to add 3 different files in to it.

then I try to Export as Template.

then I try to create new project and use that template.

I find that when I create a new project all the files are there.

I made a test with version below.

you can try to again make a test and let us know about the result.

if possible then you can provide your sample project and we will try to use it as template and try to test it to check the issue.

    Regards

    Hi Deepak,

Here is what I have done, I created a Asp.Net Core Api project, and export as a template. then I create a new project using that template. I have that issue.

I have folders and files inside those folders, even Controller folder is missing, but everything presents inside the zip file. I do not see any settings or so during the export.

I would like to attache screenshots and project file, how can I do that? Sorry I never did that. Drag & Drop does not seem to work.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi byuan,

I try to again reproduce the issue and I find that I can also able to reproduce it on my side.

you can see the folders in Template zip file.

when I create project from that template, the folders are not available.

also I find that , when you export the template it is not immediately add the templates to the Visual Studio.

after trying many times , it start showing templates.

so its like an issue with VS 2017.

you can try to report this issue.

you can go to  Help Tab in VS.

there is option to Report the issue.

    Regards

    Deepak
