    Can you give me the 'quick and dirty' directions to configure the Club Starter Kit to use SQL 2000 ?  I'm having trouble getting the Web Admin Tool to see my local installation of SQL.

    When you go to the providers tab of the web admin is the an add button. I have seen this missing in some version.

    If it is not there you may be able to configure it through the properties of the virtual directory itself. However this is not an option that I have been able to figure out on XP.

    If you look in the web.config you will see the connection string for the database. You can change it to point to a different server/database. It works fine with sql2000, there should not be any yukon dependencies in the code or sql.

    Apparently, it's not as easy as that...

    I deleted all references to the project; from the backup files folder and the projects folder, and I deleted the cached version in Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50215\Temporary ASP.NET Files. I created a new web project and edited the web.config replacing ".\SQLEXPRESS" with the name of my locally running instance of SQL Server 2000 (developer edition). I built the site. On loading it I received the following message:

    SSE Instance re-direction is not supported for non-local user instances.

    I'm guessing that the template has SQLExpress hard coded somewhere, but I can't find it.

    Please post a fix for this soon.

    It sounds like you have an incorrect connection string, it should look something like:

    <add name="ClubSiteDB" connectionString="Data Source=SERVERNAME;Initial Catalog=DATABASENAME;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=MYUSER;Password=MYPASSWORD" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

    You'll also need to copy the tables and stored procedures from the SQL express database to your SQL2000 server.

    Thanks. Any ideas how to uninstall the failed installation of Sql Express?

    I can not get it to install, (tried on two different machines with same results).

    Trouble is, it will not allow me to reinstall Sql 2000. I get the error, "setup has detected a previous installation did not complete. Click ok to retry of cancel to exit setup". If I click ok, installation proceed to 100%, then fails on registering scipts 1 of 17.

    I have used Regserv  to reregister DMO, but no help. I am stumped.

    I've opened the database in sql2005 beta2, generated a script for it, then ran the script in sql2000 and all went fine.

    oVan, did you mean SQL2005 beta2, or SQL2005 Express beta2?  I only have the Express version... it is possible to open the database and generate the script in the Express version?

    If you only have SQL Express you don't have any tools to use to create the script. There is no Enterprise Manager in that edition.
