Platform builder Plug in for visual studio 2010 professional RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a small query related to the WinEC7 PLUG IN .

    1) Is PLUG IN for Visual studio for 2010 professional available.

    2) Is it limited to only 2008 professional.

    3) The order for installation of platform is a) Visual studio 2008 prof.

                                                                      b) Visual studio service pack.

                                                                      c) Platform builder(WinEC700).

If i change the order will i still be able to get the platform builder option in visual studio tool bar .

  • These seem particularly important:

PID:00400002 TID:01370006 FMD driver does not support NAND manufacturer:0x17 dev:0x17
PID:00400002 TID:01370006 ECC TYPE is BCH 8 bit with ELM
    PID:00400002 TID:01370006 16Bit NAND device
    PID:00400002 TID:01370006 NAND manufacturer 17 device 17 : no matching device found
PID:00400002 TID:01370006 FMD driver does not support NAND manufacturer:0x17 dev:0x17

It would seem that your NAND flash is not supported by the OS that you built.

  • Hi,

Need a solution for my visual studio2008 professional problem

    1) I tried installing as per the installation procedure

                                                                       a) Visual studio 2008 prof.

                                                                         b) Visual studio service pack.

                                                                        c) Blend 3

                                                                       d) Platform builder(WinEC700).

But when i try opening Visual studio 2008 i get an error message stating (INVALID LICENSE,REINSTALL IS REQUIRED). But Visual studio  used to open without any error message popping up before the installation of WINDOWS PLATFORM BUILDER.I Downloaded the WINDOWS PLATFORM BUILDER with 90 day trial license with key. Can i know the mistake done by me /is any issues with the software download.

Hoping i get a  Reply ASAP.

  • The first step is to verify whether the Platform Builder license is the problem or the Visual Studio license. This is a purchased copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional? If so, uninstall the Platform Builder plug-in and make sure that you have VS2008 with service pack fully functional. Once that is working, return to Platform Builder and install it again. If this is an evaluation copy of VS2008, that may be the problem. You should be able to run PB with VS2008 evaluation, but if VS2008 is past the evaluation period, nothing will work.

Most do not have this problem, so something is unique in what you've done or in your system. Double-check the requirements for Platform Builder and make sure that you meet each of them.

  •   Thanks for the reply ,

I re-installed the Visual studio 2008 and SP1.and to be fortunate i was able to invoke the plug in WINEC7.

But i am stuck up with one more issue ,when i try to open the platform builder from the tools menu, i get an error stating  object reference not set to an instance of an object. when i tried goggling for this issue i found out this appears when u change the path of the winec700 file , but i haven done anything as such .

one more strange thing which i noticed is when i click on the tools it just shows platform builder (rather than showing platform builder for win 7 ). Help me out it is taking lot of time to invoke the platform builder

  • To add,

    1. When VS2008 was crashing I reinstalled it but did not reinstall WINEC7....but I was able to see the Platform Builder in the tools section  so most likely WinEC7 re-installation is not required

    2. I checked from VS2008 ->options-> Platform Builder This does point to C:\WINCE700

Not sure as to what and where I need to update ...

  • Uninstall Platform Builder and reinstall. You have at least some pieces of Platform Builder installed, but there's no way of proving how many.

The error you report *can* be caused by moving the CE root folder; that's not the exlusive cause, however. The error itself is literally telling you something about how the plug-in is built and that the code in the plug in is trying to use a null object reference. As you might imagine, there are infinite causes for that.

  • The answers  were  helpful for me.

I installed the Visual studio 2008 and i was able to invoke the plugin ,i tried creating a design by cloning an existing design by following this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WTer-axwV4 ,but i am unable to succeed after copying the (Eboot.nb0,MLO,NK.bin) in trhe following order to the SD card i am not able to bring up the EVM with WIN7, can i have a solution for it.

Hoping i get a solution ASAP.

  • The eboot.nb0 would have to be invoked by the device on startup. How that happens is device-dependent. Most of my devices programmed bootloaders into flash at the startup location used by the embedded processor. If your device is x86/PC-based, you may need to install some sort of hard disk-based boot files to trigger loading of your Windows CE bootloader. Refer to your device documentation or talk with the guy who designed the hardware and read the various datasheets for the components on your board...

  • I am trying to invoke it in DM8148EVM which is based on ARM 7 architecture.

IN SD card there only these three files required Eboot.nb0,MLO,NK.bin . once the boot loader is booted the following errors is seen in the Tera term

It would seem that your NAND flash is not supported by the OS that you built.

  •  Hi Bruce,

I am using the BSP provided by the TI , so basically i am using the default BSP given for this particular DM8148EVM ,even in the source code the manufacture ID and the device id are same as for this nand flash given in the user guide.

  • Adding to that , I am able to boot the LINUX image on the same EVM ,but i am not able to build windows .
