  • Question

  • When I purchased this laptop last month there was a notice on the start up screen that said:"MicroSoft.NETFramework Version 2.0 is required to continue" and gave download address. I attempted at least two dozen times to load without success. Finally it loaded successfully (obviously, since I'm writing this via .NET 2.0). However. the download prompt continues to raise it's head at every start up. How do I eliminate this prompt?

    Thank you for your assisstance,

  • Hi Dr.Beverly,

Thank you for your post in MSDN forum!

Could you please answer some questions as follows?

1, have you installed other software during this period?

    2, what is your OS?

If your OS is Windows 7, I would recommend you download Framework 2.0 manually. The following link is: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=aea55f2f-07b5-4a8c-8a44-b4e1b196d5c0

Then you could download ‘Collect.exe’ Tool, which could help you to collect information during installing products. The following link is: http://go.microsoft.com/?LinkId=8967043

How to use this tool, you could click the link as follows?

    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2007/08/01/4172276.aspx

Try to clean your "%temp%" folder (Start Menu >> Run >> Type "%temp%")

Unable your anti-virus software and some security software

Run your setup file as administrator

    Re-install Microsoft .NET Framework again

It will create a file named %temp%\vslogs.cab on your system.

If it does not work, you could refer your log files to narrow down your issue.

Or you could send your log files to me. (My E-Mail: v-xugong@microsoft.com)

Note: Please attach the link of this post in the mail.

After you have installed .NET Framework, you could verify your .NET Framework files etc. whether is verified or not. This tool will verify the presence of files, directories, registry keys and values for the .NET Framework. The download link is as follows. You could download as follows.
