FilePicker throws when picking .zip file. Why?

    Question

  • I'm trying to use file picker to select a .zip file. When the operation returns, a "JavaScript runtime error: No such interface supported" exception is thrown. I renamed the file to .xxx and it selected fine.

    Are .zip files supposed to be blocked?

  • Joe,

    I filed a bug, it was analyzed and it will be fixed (I am not sure when that fix will be in an update or what any of the timelines are yet).  Thanks for reporting this!

  • Hi Joe,

    Can you post a simple sample of your code?  Are you modifying a sample from http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/

  • Sure. I'm modifying the File Picker Sample (Javascript). Just added .zip to the end of the filter list and selected a .zip file.

      openPicker.fileTypeFilter.replaceAll([".png", ".jpg", ".jpeg", ".zip"]);
