Where are the APIs to restore files that backup with "File History" feature in Windows 8?

    Question

  • I want to build a test program based "File History" solution in windows 8, you can refer to the link and the follow picture

But I can't find any APIs about how to restore files you backup with "File History" APIs.

So, Where are the restore APIs ? How does microsoft realize the restore function?

  • I don't believe those file history APIs are available to Metro style apps, meaning that you still need to write such an app as a desktop application. It has not been the intent to enable every scenario for Metro style apps, and dealing with system management APIs like this is one such scenario that isn't supported.

    Thank you for your reply!

Even so, I can't find Win32 APIs about restore items.

  • Not something I can help you with there, unfortunately. You'll probably want to ask in one of the desktop app dev forums (start at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsdesktopdev) since it's unlikely that folks in this forum, focused on writing apps with JavaScript, will have much to offer.
