Bluetooth LE all characteristics read followed by disconnect RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using Windows 10 Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134 with a Broadcom based USB Bluetooth 4 dongle (BCM20702 Driver version 12.0.1.659). I'm developing a Bluetooth device. On connection, Windows/the driver reads some characteristics in a proprietary service with 128bit UUIDs (non assigned) which on this device are not supported. If I respond to the requests with "Read not permitted" (0x02) then Windows disconnects from the device (but still displays "Connected" in devices, which is a bug). If I respond instead with "Request not supported" (0x06) Windows stays connected. It might be the case that "request not supported" is the correct response to send in this situation anyway, but my main issue is that Windows is reading these proprietary characteristics on connection – why is this happening?
