In the Office 2013 JavaScript API is there any way to get a list of named items in Excel? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to get the list of Tables and Named Ranges available in an Excel 2013 worksheet.  Is there anything in the JavaScript API to get that without prompting the user to enter a table name?

  • Hi marka42, unfortunately no API can give you a set of ranges and tables. It is currently required to know an item name in the worksheet in order to bind to it using the addFromNamedItemAsync method. You could also potentially bind to default names given to tables and ranges by Excel: table1, table2, and so on, but it doesn't always work.
