Windows Server 2016 revision 1709 Is A Core Only Release RRS feed

  • Question

  • As of 26 January 2018 the 1709 revision of Windows Server 2016 is released in ISO form without the possibility of configuring full-GUI mode.  Core Mode is the ONLY option.  This news comes from the support office of Microsoft.  Further news is that Microsoft plans to release a full-GUI mode 1709 (or later).  It would be helpful were to clearly state that 1709 is a Core Only release.

  • it is a criminal act indeed, that nobody did write 1 line of text saying that. It was DISAPPOINTING to find that out after the setup! It would be damn easy to write "Core ONLY" or GUI Version. Sometimes I wonder...

  • Thanks for forwarding my complaint to the relevant department.  Oh, wait.  You didn't do that.  You forwarded me to them.  Their web interface wants me to fill out a form with all sorts of information and then gives me the opportunity to "chat" -- only the chat line is not open on weekends. Form lost.   And after all that work, too.  Who designs these websites?  Don't leave out the CAPTCHA that even humans cannot read.  This is customer abuse which is endemic to corporations that don't care one whit about customers unless they are CEO level or above.  Yeah.  I'm angry.
