Is there Support for HLP Files in Windows Developer Preview?

    Question

  • The MSU patch that adds support for HLP files to Windows Vista and Windows 7 will not install (error message says it is not applicable to this operating system). Has Microsoft stated whether they will continue to support a patch for HLP support on Windows 8?

    Thanks

I think you have to wait for the Beta and ask it there. This Preview focuses on Metro development with VS11.

  • Where did you download it?

Windows comes with Windows Help file and you could chose to connect online or only use offline content.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7, its already build into the system and for Windows 8 Developer Preview there are littel contents since it is pre-Beta and full content will add as Windows is being develop.

OP is talking about legacy (pre-CHM) HLP files used by many older applications.
