Publish to ftp blocked by firewall (how do i unblock) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I spent a long time trying to get my project to publish direct to my FTP and finally discovered that if i turn my firewall off, i can successfully publish to my server via ftp.

My question is, how do i allow visual studio 2013 through my firewall?

I have added VS Express 2013 to the firewall as an "allowed app" and added an Outbound Rule for vs2013 but im still not able to publish ("error: Unable to add default.aspx to web site. an unknow WinINet error has occured (code 12113)")

But when i switch my firewall off... i can publish.

So im guessing i still need to do something???

    Thank you

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your post.

I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System and Visual Studio Editor.

Through my research, you can add outbound rule for port 21 based on this blog: http://blogs.iis.net/jaroslad/archive/2007/09/29/windows-firewall-setup-for-microsoft-ftp-publishing-service-for-iis-7-0.aspx to check whether this issue can be resolved.

If no help, I suggest starting a new thread at IIS forum: http://forums.iis.net/ for better response.
