Hi all,
In the next view days I'll start with my final year project. In a part of this project I will use reporting services to create reports. Most of the data will be very suitable to report on a map. So I will try to use the Map Report feature
in SQL Server 2008 R2. But there is one big problem. The company's customers I am working for never allows a connection to WWW. Everything has to work in the intranet.
-Is it possible with any technology to render my own map data? (Except GeoServer, MapServer etc. I am informed about those, I am just looknig for other aproaches, best would be if there is something, coming out of the box from microsoft which is easy
to use with Reporting Services )
-My company will provide me the necessary map data as shape file etc. if it helps me. Is it possible to render this vector data with .Net, or are there also shape files containing the styles, which SQL Server 2008 R2 is able to interpret
when importing it? What I mean is, can I have a full styled map when I import the shape file to use it as the ground map instead of binding Bing Maps in Reporting Services? This would be a cool feature!
- What format of spatial data can be imported into SQL Server 2008 R2?
In case there are other things that you might need to know like, that there will be used SharePoint etc. , please ask!
Regards
