Hi! I have a question which will effect multiple implementations we are currently part of. Can you use 1) SharePoint and separately 2) InfoPath to display records from the CRM database, allow NON-CRM users to edit the records and then save the modifications back to the CRM database without needing CRM licenses for the SharePoint / InfoPath users?
We want to ensure our solutions are licensing compliant.

Hi Kristin,
I think, in this case, when you use the webservice, scribe or any other tool, maybe Biztalk, you don't need a licence for the user in InfoPath.
But you should ask you PAM or your distributor, to get a valid answer.

Hi Kristin,
if the non CRM user can change Data in the CRM und they are employee from the customer, they must have a CRM full use licence. If they are not a employee, you need the external conector for this user. The external connector is a server licence, so you need only one licence for each crm server.

Thank you so much for the information. Yesterday, one of the implementations had one additional clarification I'd like to double check. They would like non-CRM users to be able to see and search through CRM Contacts and the corresponding email history through SharePoint - but there is no need to edit the records - would that require a license? Thanks again!

Hi Kristin,
yes, they require a license. But you can use the read only licence for this user.

I appreciate the detail, we have one more way they are trying to look at this...
If I have an InfoPath database and designed the InfoPath webpage off of it directly to allow users to edit records, then using CRM webservices (or Scribe), integrated relevant CRM records between the CRM database and InfoPath - would that require CRM licenses for the InfoPath users?
Again, really apprecaite you helping dig into the details of this...
