Windows Phone Emulator and Visual Studio Express conflicts with Hyper-V

Question

Hello,

I need your help to running the windows phone emulator with hyper-v in visual studio express 2012. First of all my specs:

HP Compaq 6200 Pro Microtower:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i5-2500 Chipset: Intel® Q65 Express Windows 8 Pro Connected to my corporate domain.

Every time when I try to run the application I get an error message that’ll say, that the emulator can’t start and reference to this MSDN article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/develop/jj863509(v=vs.105).aspx .

I’ve done all the steps in this topics. For clarification my current bios settings (AMI Aptio V.2.10.1208):

• Data Execution Prevention: Enabled
• Virtualization Technology (VTx): Enabled
• Virtualization Technology Directed I/O (VTd): Disabled
• Intel TXT(LT) Support: Disabled
• Embedded Security Device: Disabled
• OS management of Embedded Security Device: Enabled

The result of coreinfo.exe (as mentioned in the article above) shows that the cpu fits to the requirements. Same as MachineSLATStatusCheck.exe, which also says, that my machine is SLAT capable.

Data Execution Prevention in Control Panel is turned on and my cpu is supporting it, according to the message in the options.

Hyper-V is activated. (more than that, after enabling the bios options, I disabled and enabled again, as someone mentioned in another thread).

And last but not least my account is member of the hyper-v administrator security group.´

 

I appreciate any tips from you to solve my problem and will provide any information you request. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

da Du in einem deutschsprachigen Forum postest, antworte ich auch mal auf Deutsch.

Kann es sein, dass dein Entwicklungs PC selbst in einer virtuellen Maschine läuft? Falls ja, dürfte das nicht funktionieren, denn eine VM in einer VM ist wohl meistens nicht möglich.

Es wäre aber hilfreich, wenn Du uns die genaue und vollständige Fehlermeldung geben könntest (bitte nicht interpretieren, sondern genau so wiedergeben, wie sie erscheint)

Hi,

oh, das war wirklich keine Absicht das ich Englisch in einem deutschen Forum schreibe, muss wohl weitergeleitet worden sein nachdem anmelden. Sorry dafür.

Nein betreibe es auf einer normalen Windows 8 Pro Installation (kein 8.1 oder VM).

Hast du in den Windows-Features auch Hyper-V aktiviert?

Hi, 

wie ich oben geschrieben habe, war auch das Hyper-V schon aktiviert.

Aber ich habe in dem Zuge einfach noch einmal Visual Studio Express bzw. das Windows Phone SDK komplett deinstalliert und neuinstalliert und siehe da: es klappt! Ich habe sonst keine Einstellungen geändert im Bios oder Windows. Zwei Unterschiede zu der Erstinstallation gab es aber:

1. War diesmal das Bios vor der Installation korrekt konfiguriert, welches es zum Zeitpunkt der Erstinstallation nicht war.

2. Hab ich die englische Version auf das englische Windows 8 installiert.

Tendenziell würde ich sagen es lag an Grund 1. In jedem Fall vielen Dank für eure Hilfe und Bemühen.
