revert to VS 2010 scrollbar RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In VS2012 is there any way to go back to the classic looking, windows-default scrollbars that VS2008 and 2010 have? Anyone know any extension that does that?

    Thanks!

  • Use the Tools\Customize Color menu, create a custom theme and then use the search field to search for Scroll.  This gives you all the settings related to the scrollbar.

  • What is different about the scrollbars that you're trying to get away from?  AFAIK there is no customization of scrollbars out of the box although there are extensions that enhance its functionality.

  • Thanks for replying. It's a different style, thinner, harder to get a grip on, has a transparent look rather than solid like the default scrollbar in Windows.

  • And I would also like not to have the splitter button, which looks more intrusive than the one on VS2008.

  • You cannot change the splitter and/or width of the scrollbar.  You can change the color (I believe) by using the VS 2012 Color Theme Editor.

  • Found it, thank you. Color is the only thing I can change.
